Bubble tea, also known as pearl milk tea or boba milk tea, is a Taiwanese tea-based drink. Most bubble teas contain a tea base mixed with fruit-flavoured syrups or milk, while ice-blended versions have a slushier consistency. The fun of bubble tea comes from the small, chewy tapioca balls; i.e. the “pearls”.
- The first noted “bubble tea” consisted of cold tea and a sweetened tapioca pudding. The inventor was trying something new and everyone fell in love with the taste and the fun of it! Since then, many variations have been created.
